Ecumenical Service

An ecumenical service is being held on Thursday, the 16th May, during the Pentecost period. Pentecost is the feast not only of the birth of Christianity, but also of the shift from plurality to unity: many united in one body. It is therefore right and fitting that at Pentecost we should continue to pray for unity amongst Christians.

Malta Catholic Action and Id-Dar Tal-Providenza commemorate Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi

On Saturday 11th May 2013, two days before the 26th anniversary of the death of Mons Mikiel Azzopardi, Founder and first Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza was commemorated in the Home’s Chapel with a Eucharistic Celebration attended by Catholic Action members, residents and friends of the Home. Pope Francis proclaims new Saints

At Mass for the Seventh Sunday of Easter, Pope Francis canonized 800 Martyrs from the Italian city of Otranto, along with two Latin American religious Foundresses, Mother Laura Montoya e Upegui – the first Colombian saint – and Mother Maria Guadalupe Garcia Zavala, from Mexico.
In his homily, the Holy Father asked us to “look on the new saints in the light of the Word of God proclaimed: a Word that invited us to be faithful to Christ, even unto martyrdom; a word that recalled to us the urgency and the beauty of bringing Christ and his Gospel to everyone; a word that spoke to us about the witness of charity, without which even martyrdom and mission lose their Christian savor.”
