The Archbishop baptises 14 adults from seven different countries

This evening, during the Solemn Vigil of the Resurrection of our Lord at St John’s Co‑Cathedral, Archbishop Charles Scicluna will administer the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion) to 14 catechumens, who, as adults, have chosen the Christian path. During Chrism Mass in the Vatican on Holy Thursday, Pope Francis thanks priests for heroic witness, but urges them to transform shortcomings, errors, and hardened hearts into an opportunity to draw closer to Christ and start anew.

“Thank you, dear priests, for your open and docile hearts.  Thank you for all your hard work and your tears.  Thank you, because you bring the miracle of God’s mercy to our brothers and sisters in today’s world.  May the Lord console you, strengthen you and reward you.”

Churches of Jerusalem reiterate plea for peace in Holy Land

In their annual joint Easter message the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem encouraged the faithful, especially those suffering war in the Holy Land and elsewhere, to fix their gaze on the Resurrection of Jesus which tells us that even in the midst of darkness all death is trampled by His death.

The Easter message of hope 

The Easter message of hope in the resurrection, they said “not only confirms Christ’s triumph over sin and death, but also promises salvation to those who come to our Lord in faith with penitent hearts.”
