World famous choir to perform in Malta for charity

  • The world famous Claire College Choir of the University of Cambridge will perform in Malta on the 12th July 2018, in honour of the 600th anniversary of the Carmelite presence in Malta and to raise funds for the restoration of the 16th century Oratory of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Valletta.

    The choir, which previously gave a very successful tour of Malta in 2014, will be performing numerous pieces of music which reflect church music over the centuries…

Pope chooses a lay prefect for Dicastery for Communication

  • Pope Francis on Thursday named Doctor Paolo Ruffini as the new Prefect for the Dicastery for Communication. Dr Ruffini has been serving as Director of the television station of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, TV2000.

    Paolo Ruffini was born in Palermo, Sicily, on 4 October 1956.

Religious structures next step in Iraqi building process

  • Since 2014 international charity organization Aid to the Church in Need has spent some 40 million euros [$46.6 million] funding relief and reconstruction efforts in Iraq, with the majority of support going toward basic needs such as housing.

    However, according to Thomas Heine-Geldem, executive president of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), now that the international community chipping in to rebuild Christian villages destroyed when ISIS took over the Nineveh Plains in 2014, the organization’s primary focus will shift from funding basic reconstruction to restoring religious structures such as churches and monasteries, many of which were desecrated and burned under ISIS rule…

Malta to host meeting of media officers and spokespersons of European bishops

Joint NGO statement on the Government’s decision to close Malta’s ports to NGO rescue ships
