Joint statement by the Secretariat for Catholic Education and the UPE

  • A meeting was held on Friday 19th October 2018, between the Secretariat for Catholic Education and the Union for Professional Educators (UPE). Both parties clarified that when issues arise, the UPE will first contact the head of school and both parties will address the matter. If the issue is not resolved, the UPE will then contact the Secretariat which will work with the school and the UPE to resolve the issue.

    In view of this development, the Secretariat is initiating legal procedures to withdraw the inhibitory injunction and the UPE is withdrawing its directives in Church schools with immediate effect…

Pope appoints Nobel Physics laureate as member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences

  • Pope Francis has appointed Steven Chu, professor of physics and molecular and cellular physiology at Stanford University, Stanford, California, United States of America, as an ordinary member of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
