L-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna jitlob fuq il-qabar ta’ 24 persuna li jinsabu midfuna fiċ-Ċimiterju tal-Addolorata wara li tilfu ħajjithom f’traġedja li seħħet fil-Baħar Mediterran fid-19 ta’ April 2015. Dakinhar mietu madwar 800 persuna fosthom tfal.
Għal dan il-mument ta’ talb li sar ilbierah filgħodu attendew rappreżentanti ta’ għaqdiet mhux governattivi li jaħdmu favur id-drittijiet tal-bniedem. “Christian prayer does not close its eyes on life,” said Pope Francis. “It is a filial prayer, not an infantile one.”
The Holy Father made those remarks in the catechesis portion of his weekly General Audience.
Reflecting on the final petition of the Lord’s prayer, he said Jesus invites us to ask God to “deliver us from evil” because “life is fraught with difficulty.”
“If these last lines of the Our Father were excluded, how could sinners, the persecuted, and desperate and dying souls pray?” he asked…

The Archdiocese of Malta is organising the first ‘Archbishop’s Charity Concert’ on Sunday 19th May at 7pm, at St Paul’s Cathedral, Mdina. This classical concert by the Venus Harp Trio and pop guitarist and singer Fiona Cauchi, will deliver a delightful interpretation of sacred music of all ages, both old and modern.
The general public is invited to attend. Entrance to the concert is free and proceeds from donations at the door will go towards the Archbishop’s Charity Fund which assists families and persons in need…

The 32nd anniversary of Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi’s death was commemorated with a Eucharistic celebration at the chapel of Id-Dar tal-Providenza. In attendance were members of the Malta Catholic Action, residents and friends of the Home. Dun Mikiel, as more popularly referred to, was born in Valletta on February 10th, 1910. He founded the Siġġiewi Home in September 1965 and died on May 13th, 1987…
