Commemorating the 50th anniversary of Bishop Emmanuel Galea’s death

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Bishop Emmanuel Galea’s death two masses will be celebrated this week by the Bishops of Malta.

Mons. Emmanuel Galea was born on 10th March 1891. He studied at the University of Malta and was ordained priest on 18th December 1915.

Vatican expels founder of Peru’s Sodalitium religious movement

Following probe, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Consecrated Life expels Luis Fernando Figari, the founder of Peru’s Sodalitium religious movement, who had already, years ago, been removed from the movement that he had established in the 1970s, due to accusations of psychological and sexual abuse, including against minors, and for financial irregularities.

Luis Fernando Figari, founder of the Peruvian apostolic society Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SVC), more commonly known as Sodalicio, ends with a measure by the Holy See, expelling him from the movement he himself created.

He celebrated mass 50,370 times!

Hymn for the 2025 Jubilee in Maltese

The Church in Malta and Gozo are launching a Maltese version of the official hymn for the 2025 Jubilee with the theme, ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. Next year, the Church and Catholics from around the world are called to be a source of hope, unity and compassion within their communities.

Vatican Secretary of State says Ukraine’s recent attack makes “peace seem further away”

Two and a half years after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Vatican continues its call for peace in the region. The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, spoke about the recent Ukrainian attack in Russia, saying:

Archbishop Noël Treanor, Apostolic Nuncio to the EU, dies aged 73

Archbishop Noël Treanor, who was serving as Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union, has died in Brussels at age 73. The bishop emeritus of Down and Connor, Ireland, passed away on the morning of Sunday, 11 August, due to a heart attack.
