Archbishop Charles Scicluna has appointed Deacon Jesmond Schembri as the new Director of the Migrants Commission, succeeding Fr Anton D’Amato, who served in this role for nearly five years.

For the past 75 years, the Migrants Commission has been dedicated to supporting Maltese emigrants and their families and immigrants who have arrived in Malta seeking refuge or employment. Among its key initiatives, the Commission assists migrants to help them live with dignity and facilitates their integration into Maltese society… Read more »

EU bishops issue ‘Looking to Europe with Hope’ declaration

The Bishops of the European Union convened in Nemi (Italy) from 26 to 28 March 2025 for the spring Plenary Assembly of COMECE. Following a series of dialogue sessions with Vatican, EU and academic representatives, the bishops elaborated and issued the declaration “Looking to Europe with hope”. Representing the Church in Malta and Gozo at this assembly was Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi.
