Dear brothers and sisters,
Dear young people!

The Feast of the Transfiguration, which we are celebrating, is a mystery of light that enriches our encounter — one that is so joyful, yet also raises questions about the present and the future. In the Gospel, we find the contrast between light and shadow, silence and words, wonder and incomprehension. Today, we are in Assisi, a city to which countless pilgrims have made their way for centuries, because here everything whispers that our lives can take on a new form, radiate light and heal the world… Read more »

Herod’s banquet or Jesus’ table? – The Archbishop

Mass on the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

  The Archbishop's Palace Chapel, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Din il-ġrajja ta’ Ġesù li jkattar il-ħobż kienet tant importanti fit-tradizzjoni Nisranija li nsibuha fl-erba’ Evanġelji. Dan hu r-rakkont ta’ Ġesù li jara n-nies li ġew biex jisimgħuh. Hu jinduna wkoll li għandhom bżonn jieklu, u jieħu ħsiebhom hu. Imma hemm żewġ punti li xtaqt insemmi biex nifhmu aħjar il-kuntest ta’ dak li għamel Ġesù.

L-ewwel nett, l-Evanġelju tal-lum jibda bin-nota li għand Ġesù tasal l-aħbar li Erodi qatel lil Ġwanni l-Battista… Read more »

Valletta’s streets should not become an open-air ‘brothel’ – The Archbishop

Archbishop Charles Scicluna has appealed for common sense and cooperation between authorities over the growing presence of burlesque-style performances in the streets of Valletta, warning that turning the historic capital’s roads into what he called a “burdell” – a brothel – does no good to anyone.

Speaking by telephone to the programme Għal Kulħadd, presented by Christine Delicata on RTK103, the Archbishop was asked about the controversy surrounding performances staged near the Church of Ta’ Ġieżu, run by the Franciscan friars, which has drawn public criticism after footage of a dancer on the church steps circulated widely on social media… Read more »

Illum qed ngħixu mument ta’ grazzja u ta’ tifkira li se jibqa’ mnaqqax fl-istorja tal-Forzi Armati ta’ Malta. Din il-knisja, li għal snin laqgħet fit-talb lill-membri tal-Forzi Armati, illum tirċievi uffiċjalment it-titlu tagħha u tiġi mqiegħda taħt il-patroċinju tal-Beatu Nazju Falzon.

Fil-ħajja tal-Knisja, it-titlu ta’ knisja mhuwiex sempliċi isem. Huwa att ekkleżjali u spiritwali… Read more »

Pope Leo’s speeches on peace in a new book

Ritratt: Vatican Media

Mill-ewwel ġurnata tal-pontifikat tiegħu nhar it-8 ta’ Mejju 2025, il-Papa Ljun XIV ħeġġeġ lil kulħadd biex iħabrek għall-paċi, liema paċi tiġi minn Kristu Rxoxt.

Minn dakinhar sal-lum, il-Papa qatt ma qata’ mill-appell tiegħu biex jieqfu l-gwerer kif ukoll sabiex tinkiseb il-paċi bejn il-popli. Minkejja li l-appelli tiegħu mhux dejjem ġew milqugħa tajjeb minn kulħadd, il-Papa dejjem wassal il-messaġġ ta’ Ġesù b’kull mod possibbli… Read more »

From little things, God makes great things” — Bishop Galea-Curmi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Żerriegħa tal-mustarda u ftit ħmira. Dawn isemmi Ġesù llum fl-Evanġelju, u jsemmihom bħala xbieha tas-Saltna tas-Smewwiet. Mal-ewwel tolqotna kemm jagħżel affarijiet żgħar, ordinarji, li soltu ma toqgħodx titkellem ħafna fuqhom.  Żerriegħa tal-mustarda, kif jgħid Ġesù, “l-iżgħar waħda fost iż-żrieragħ kollha” (Mt 13:32), u n-nies li kienu qed jisimgħuh kienu jifhmu li hi verament żerriegħa żgħira; u l-istess meta jsemmi l-“ftit ħmira” (Mt 13:33)… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: God brings true fulfilment, not consumerism

  Liberty Square, Castel Gandolfo, Italy

Message by Pope Leo XIV

Dear brothers and sisters, happy Sunday!

At the heart of Jesus’ teachings lies the mystery of the Kingdom of God, which today’s Gospel likens to treasure and a pearl (cf. Mt 13:44–52). The parables convey the surprise of those who find something far beyond what they could have hoped for, so much so that selling or leaving everything behind no longer seems a sacrifice, but a gain… Read more »
