Pope calls Patriarch Pizzaballa to express closeness after Gaza parish attack

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, made a visit on Friday to the only Catholic parish in Gaza, along with the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III.

As they entered the enclave, Pope Leo XIV placed a call to Patriarch Pizzaballa to “express his closeness, care, prayer, support, and desire to do everything possible to achieve not only a ceasefire but also an end to this tragedy.”

Mass with Maltese pilgrims attending the annual pilgrimage organised by UMTAL

  Notre Dame Chapel, Lourdes

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Kull meta nisimgħu l-kelma ta’ Ġesù, hi sseħħ fostna. Il-kelma li jgħid Ġesù fis-sinagoga ta’ Nazaret, fejn kien trabba, isseħħ kull meta nisimgħu l-kelma tiegħu; din il-kitba seħħet illum intom u tisimgħu. Għalhekk is-smigħ tal-Kelma ta’ Alla li aħna niċċelebraw f’kull quddiesa, huwa mument għażiż ħafna. Il-kelma li nisimgħu, isseħħ, issir realtà. Illum Ġesù juża l-ktieb ta’ Isaija biex jagħtina l-programm ta’ ħajtu, tal-missjoni tiegħu, kif ukoll  jurina għaliex ġie fostna l-Iben ta’ Alla magħmul bniedem… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: Living eternal life by caring for others

  Liberty Square, Castel Gandolfo, Italy

Dear brothers and sisters,

Happy Sunday! Today’s Gospel begins with a great question posed to Jesus: “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Lk 10:25). Those words express a constant desire in our life: our yearning for salvation, for an existence free from failure, evil and death.

This hope of the human heart is described as something to be “inherited”, not something to be gained by force, begged for, or negotiated… Read more »

The Church of Maximilian Kolbe, Buġibba

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Agħmel hekk u tgħix” (Lq 10:28). Kemm hi sabiħa din il-kelma li Ġesù jgħid lil dan l-Imgħallem tal-Liġi, li meta Ġesù staqsieh x’hemm miktub fil-Liġi (u l-Liġi kienet serje ta’ mijiet ta’ liġijiet, mhux liġi waħda) jagħżel l-aqwa ħaġa: il-kmandament tal-imħabba. “Fil-Liġi x’hemm miktub? Inti x’taqra fiha?[…] ‘Int għandek tħobb il-Mulej, Alla tiegħek, b’qalbek kollha[…] u lill-proxxmu tiegħek bħalek innifsek’” (Lq 10:26-27)… Read more »
