Head of Media
Kevin Papagiorcopolo was born in St Julians on the 30th January 1980. He joined the Secretariat for Social Communications of the Archdiocese of Malta on the 15th June 2009, as a Communications Officer. He was appointed Head of Media by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna on the 30th January 2015. Papagiorcopulo represents the Maltese Episcopal Conference in the meetings on Social Communication organised by the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE).
He was also a member of the Board of Directors of RTK Radio and also served on the Board of Directors of Media Centre Ltd. As member of the RTK Board he was responsible for the newsroom reform and for setting up the newsportal Newsbook.com.mt.
In 2003 Papagiorcopulo was awarded with a BA in Communications from the University of Malta, where he also pursued studies in International Relations. He has also attended training courses and conferences in journalism and media, locally and abroad.
Papagiorcopulo served as a journalist with RTK Radio between 2001-2004, and with the National Broadcaster (PBS Ltd.) between 2004-2009. During his tenure, he presented programmes on current affairs and news, and accompanied Heads of State on official visits abroad. He also served as director on the Printing Matters Appeals Board.
For some time after his graduation, Papagiorcopulo worked in youth ministry in the Catholic group Y4J. During this time, he produced and presented a series of socio-religious programmes on television.
