Boosting self-reliance in vulnerable families is the annual report 2021 published by NGO St Jeanne Antide Foundation (VO/0005) highlighting the outcomes of the services it offers to families in distress beset by complex life challenges. The booklet includes a detailed account of the different supports offered by SOAR to survivors of domestic violence. SOAR is run by trained and mentored survivors of domestic violence.
Another service is Lwien which provides guidance and support to family caregivers of mentally ill loved ones. Lwien services fill a gap in national mental health services provision since it targets family caregivers who shoulder the primary caring responsibility. Another section deals with the work of the Foundation’s Community Social Work; volunteering; the range of in-kind supports mobilised to meet the dire needs of families sliding into poverty and much more.
Since its launch in 2007, the Foundation has provided support to 7,722 individuals from 4,347 vulnerable families. In 2021 alone, its services reached 1,103 individuals from 215 families in difficulty.
