Archbishop Charles Scicluna met with a number of separated persons at a meeting organised by the Office for Pastoral Care of Separated Persons within the Archdiocese of Malta.

During the meeting, the Archbishop was asked several questions on a wide range of topics. These included responsibilities towards children following separation, particularly in blended families and in situations where care and custody are entrusted to one parent. Participants also asked how the Church views separated persons, how they can approach the Sacrament of the Eucharist, and questions concerning spiritual guidance.

The discussion also addressed the emotional and practical aspects of separation, including domestic violence, anger that still needs to be healed, and the jealousy and resentment that can develop following separation. Other topics included marriage annulments through the Church Tribunal, prayer life, loneliness, and the importance of getting involved in voluntary work.

The participants thanked the Archbishop for taking the time to meet with them and expressed their wish to have a similar opportunity to meet with him again.
