The Jesuit Oratories are offering another month of cultural activities for February, featuring a blend of art, music, history and philosophy.

On Sunday, 2nd February, Pietre Vive Malta is organising guided tours of the Oratories. From 3:00pm to 6:00pm, the public is invited to explore these historic spaces from new artistic and spiritual perspectives. The tours are free of charge and require no prior booking but spaces are limited.

On Thursday, 6th February at 7:30pm, the Oratories will host a concert of French vocal music. Soprano Valentina Bezzina, mezzo-soprano Nicole Vassallo, and pianist Sofia Narmania will deliver a performance that includes works by Bizet, Massenet, Debussy and others.

A public lecture will take place on Thursday, 13th February at 6:30pm, delivered by philosophy lecturer D. Niki Young, a lecturer in philosophy. This talk will focus on recent developments in philosophy, particularly on ethics and animals, a topic gaining increasing importance in contemporary discourse.

On Thursday, 20th February, at 7:30pm, soprano Gabrielle Portelli and violinist Bernard Curmi, accompanied by pianist Maria-Elena Farrugia, will perform a concert featuring rare music, including the “Four Songs for Voice and Violin” by Gustav Holst.

In the spirit of Carnival, a lecture will be delivered by historian Prof. Emanuel Buttigieg on Thursday, 27th February at 6:30pm on the Carnival riots of 1639, when decisions by Grand Master Lascaris caused tensions and dissatisfaction among many people and artists.

All events will take place at the Jesuit Oratories in Valletta and are free of charge. Donations are welcome. In addition to the cultural program, regular liturgies are also held at the Oratories. For more information, you can find the Jesuit Oratories on social media here.
