Activities organised at St Paul’s Missionary College during missionary month

During October, a month dedicated to missions, St Paul’s Missionary College especially lives this theme. During the preparatory week for World Mission Day on Sunday 20th October, various activities were organised for students and staff.

Both schools gathered for mass where they listened to staff members and members of MSSP talk about the missionary experiences they went on last summer. Secondary school students had the opportunity to meet several MSSP brothers online, living at the International Formation House in the Philippines. The students asked them questions to learn more about their calling and the brothers shared their experiences living far from their country.

Primary school and Senior 1 students received a book, “The Adventure of Nick and Ella” by Fr John Curmi, given by the MSSP Community. The book contains stories about life in Peru, one of the countries that students often hear about thanks to the MSSP missions.

All students had the opportunity to have breakfast together, as part of the “Breakfast for You and Me” initiative, in support of a local NGO working closely with the MSSP missions in Pakistan. Their current project is to assist MSSP brothers in providing breakfast to 500 children attending the MSSP school in Lahore every day.

During Special Assemblies, the students met recently ordained deacons, Bro Marco Cabatuando MSSP and Bro David Pace MSSP online, who worked pastorally with the students at the College last year. The students asked questions about themselves, their mission and the next steps in their vocational path.

During the activities, staff had the opportunity to be involved, work together, and convey the missionary values in a way that students could value and understand. Thus, they were able to live the charisma and spirituality of their founder, Ġużeppi de Piro, while supporting each other and being sensitive to the needs of others, especially the weak and marginalised.
