The Gospel of the day: 29th April

Readings of the day

First Reading: 1 John 1:5-2,2
Psalm: 102:1-4,8-9,13-14,17-18

Gospel: Matthew 11:25-30

At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Homily by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

Illum, f’dan il-jum speċjali, ninġabru b’qalb mimlija gratitudni u tifħir lil Alla, hekk kif niċċelebraw il-festa ta’ Santa Marija Ewfrasja Pelletier, il-fundatriċi għażiża tagħkom u l-qaddisa li għexet b’qalb kbira u kuraġġ ta’ spirtu.

Ħafna jħarsu lejn il-qaddisin bħala persuni straordinarji, ’il fuq minna, imma Santa Marija Ewfrasja kienet persuna bħali u bħalkom – mara b’qalb, li tibki, li titlob, u b’talb li kultant kien jidher isir fil-vojt… imma li baqgħet temmen, baqgħet tħobb, baqgħet taħdem… Read more »
