Brothers and sisters,

I have the joy of celebrating this Eucharist with you. I greet all those present, the parish community, the priests, and His Eminence, the Bishop of the Diocese, and the civil and military authorities.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, we have heard one of Jesus’ most beautiful and moving parables. We all know the parable of the Good Samaritan (Lk 10:25-37)… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: Living eternal life by caring for others

  Liberty Square, Castel Gandolfo, Italy

Dear brothers and sisters,

Happy Sunday! Today’s Gospel begins with a great question posed to Jesus: “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Lk 10:25). Those words express a constant desire in our life: our yearning for salvation, for an existence free from failure, evil and death.

This hope of the human heart is described as something to be “inherited”, not something to be gained by force, begged for, or negotiated… Read more »

We do that too – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Mass for the altar boys who will be serving in the Vatican and their families, and for those who meet every second Saturday of the month to pray for vocations

  The Archbishop's Seminary, tal-Virtu’

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Mgħallem, x’nagħmel biex niret il-ħajja ta’ dejjem?” (Lq 10:25). Din hija l-mistoqsija li għamel wieħed għaref fil-Liġi lil Ġesù u, bis-saħħa ta’ din il-mistoqsija, Ġesù mbagħad qal l-istorja li hija tant magħrufa u tant qawwija wkoll: tas-Samaritan it-Tajjeb. Dal-bniedem ried ikun jaf x’jagħmel biex jiret il-ħajja ta’ dejjem, u Ġesù, flok daħal f’ħafna diskussjonijiet miegħu biex jispjegalu, qallu storja tassew sabiħa u qawwija li tagħti messaġġ mhux biss lil dan, imma lilna lkoll… Read more »

Love is the true flavour of life – The Archbishop

The Church of Maximilian Kolbe, Buġibba

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Agħmel hekk u tgħix” (Lq 10:28). Kemm hi sabiħa din il-kelma li Ġesù jgħid lil dan l-Imgħallem tal-Liġi, li meta Ġesù staqsieh x’hemm miktub fil-Liġi (u l-Liġi kienet serje ta’ mijiet ta’ liġijiet, mhux liġi waħda) jagħżel l-aqwa ħaġa: il-kmandament tal-imħabba. “Fil-Liġi x’hemm miktub? Inti x’taqra fiha?[…] ‘Int għandek tħobb il-Mulej, Alla tiegħek, b’qalbek kollha[…] u lill-proxxmu tiegħek bħalek innifsek’” (Lq 10:26-27)… Read more »
