Mass on All Souls’ Day, by the Dominicans, at the Addolorata Cemetery

Ritratt: Arċidjoċesi ta’ Malta – Ian Noel Pace

Nhar il-Ħadd 2 ta’ Novembru niċċelebraw l-Għid tal-Imwiet. F’dan il-jum niftkaru fl- għeżież mejtin tagħna. Dawk li jżuru ċ-ċimiterju, jitolbu għall-mejtin, jgħidu l-kredu, jitolbu skont l-intenzjoni tal-Papa, jqerru u jitqarbnu matul ix-xahar ta’ Novembru, jirbħu indulġenza plenarja għalihom infushom u jistgħu japplikawha għall-mejtin.

Il-Katekiżmu tal-Knisja Kattolika jgħidlna dan fuq it-talb tagħna għall-mejtin: “Ix-xirka mal-mejtin .“Il-Knisja tal-Insara li għadhom f’din id-dinja hija u tagħraf sewwa l- għaqda li hemm fi ħdan il-Ġisem mistiku kollu ta’ Ġesù Kristu, sa mill-ewwel żminijiet żammet b’għożża u tjieba kbira t-tifkira tal-mejtin, u, għaliex ‘hu ħsieb qaddis u tajjeb toffri sagrifiċċju biex il-mejtin jeħilsu minn dnubiethom’ (2 Mak 12: 45) offriet għalihom ukoll is-suffraġi tagħha”… Read more »

Eucharistic celebration with students from the Pontifical Universities

  St Peter's Basilica, the Vatican

Homily by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV

Dear brothers and sisters,

To gather in this place during the Jubilee Year is a gift that we must not take for granted. Above all, it is a gift because to go on a pilgrimage, to pass through the Holy Door, reminds us that life makes sense only when it is lived as a journey, when it knows how to keep moving forward, that is, when it is capable of making the reality of Easter present… Read more »

Readings of the day

First Reading: Ephesians 2:19-22
Psalm: 18:2-5

Gospel: Luke 6:12-19

In those days, Jesus went out to the mountain to pray; and he spent the night in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, and James, and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James son of Alphaeus, and Simon, who was called the Zealot, and Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
