Pope at Audience: Jesus redeems darkest places of human existence

  St Peter's Square, the Vatican

Cycle of Catechesis – Jubilee 2025. Jesus Christ our Hope. III. The Passover of Jesus. 8. The Descent. In the Spirit “he also went to preach to the spirits in prison” (1 Pt 3:19).

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

It is the day of the Paschal Mystery in which everything seems immobile and silent, while in reality an invisible action of salvation is being fulfilled: Christ descends into the realm of the dead to bring the news of the Resurrection to all those who were in the darkness and in the shadow of death… Read more »

Hemm tliet punti li jsemmi Ġesù llum fl-Evanġelju, li huma żgur ta’ ġid għall-ħajja tagħna. Ħa nibda mill-aħħar kliem li jgħid, li għall-bidu jinstema’ ftit stramb, meta jgħid: “min għandu jingħatalu, u min ma għandux jitteħidlu saħansitra dak li jaħseb li għandu” (Lq 8:18).

Aħna f’moħħna mal-ewwel jiġina l-ħsieb: dan fair li bniedem li ma jkollux jispiċċa li ma għandu xejn, u min għandu jkollu ħafna aktar? … Read more »

Gospel: Luke 9:1-6

They departed and went through the villages, bringing the good news and curing diseases everywhere… Read more »

Pope: Justice must be animated by wisdom, love, and mercy

Address of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV

  Saint Peter's Square, the Vatican

Muy buenos días a todos, good morning and welcome!

Dear brothers and sisters,

I am pleased to welcome you on the occasion of the Jubilee dedicated to those who, in various capacities, work in the vast field of justice.  I greet the distinguished authorities present, who have come from many countries, representing various courts, and all of you who daily carry out a necessary service for orderly relations between individuals, communities and states.  I also greet the other pilgrims who have joined this Jubilee!  The Jubilee makes us all pilgrims who, in rediscovering the signs of a hope that does not disappoint, wish “to recover the confident trust that we require, in the Church and in society, in our interpersonal relationships, in international relations, and in our task of promoting the dignity of all persons and respect for God’s gift of creation” (Francis, Spes Non Confundit, 25)… Read more »
