  Saint Peter's Square, Vatican City

Dear brothers and sisters, happy Sunday!

Today the Gospel of the liturgy (Lk 2:22-40) tells us about Mary and Joseph who take the infant Jesus to the Temple of Jerusalem. In accordance with the Law, they present Him in God’s dwelling, to recall that life comes from the Lord. And while the Holy Family carries out what was always done among the people of Israel, from generation to generation, something happens that had never occurred before… Read more »

Let us choose life – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Homily on the Day of Life

  St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta

Homily by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi

In life, we make many choices. However, all of us present here received the gift of life, and were born, not because of a choice we made ourselves, but because our parents chose life. There were people who looked after us lovingly before and after we were born. We are profoundly grateful to them.

However, our gratitude is even deeper because they brought us up in an environment that cherishes life… Read more »

Seeds of hope – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Qisha żerriegħa tal-mustarda” (Mk 4:31). Dan hu l-kliem li juża Ġesù fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark illum meta jitkellem fuq is-Saltna ta’ Alla. Fiż-żewġ parabboli li jgħid, fit-tnejn li huma hemm din “iż-żerriegħa”. Mal-ewwel jolqtok kif Ġesù, biex jispjega s-Saltna ta’ Alla, li hi xi ħaġa kbira, jitkellem fuq iż-żerriegħa.

Huwa kliem li lilna għandu jagħtina ħafna inkoraġġiment. Għax hawnhekk Ġesù qed jitkellem fuq il-ħajja tagħna Nisranija, u wkoll fuq il-ħajja tal-komunità Nisranija li hija l-Knisja… Read more »

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Hija laqgħa sabiħa, din il-laqgħa li qed niċċelebraw illum, laqgħa ta’ koppja żagħżugħa u tarbija ta’ 40 jum, u żewġ persuni anzjani: Xmun u Anna. Hemm il-laqgħa ta’ diversi ġenerazzjonijiet. Il-familja ta’ Nazaret, ta’ Ġużeppi u Marija, jobdu l-liġi ta’ Mosè; smajna fl-ewwel qari l-għeruq ta’ din il-liġi, li kienet liġi li qed tiċċelebra l-ħelsien li jagħtina Alla. U bħala offerta ta’ dan il-ħelsien kull familja kienet tippreżenta l-ewwel tarbija lil Alla, bħala radd il-ħajr tad-don tal-ulied imma wkoll bħala turija tal-fatt li l-ħajja hi don ta’ Alla, u li aħna nirċevuh mingħand Alla… Read more »
