Solidarity with the victims – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ġie Nażaret fejn kien trabba” (Lq 4:16). Mal-ewwel, fl-Evanġelju skont San Luqa, naraw lil Ġesù li jibda l-missjoni tiegħu – li jwassal il-Kelma ta’ Alla – mhux f’Ġerusalemm imma proprju f’Nażaret, fejn kien għex, kien trabba. Hawn illum għandna din is-silta fejn Ġesù jmur is-sinagoga. Interessanti dil-kelma li hemm: “kif kien imdorri jagħmel kull nhar ta’ Sibt” (Lq 4:16) – biex tfakkarna dejjem kemm hu importanti li għandna nieħdu bis-serjetà l-obbligi tagħna reliġjużi… Read more »

Humility and generosity – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

  Poor Clares Church, St. Julian's

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm żewġ kelmiet li jfissru tajjeb ħafna l-messaġġ li Ġesù jagħti fl-Evanġelju llum lil dawk in-nies li kienu qrib tiegħu, u lilna wkoll: umiltà u ġenerożità. Hawnhekk Ġesù kien mistieden mal-oħrajn, u kienu madwar mejda, u kien qed jinnota kif il-mistednin bdew jagħżlu l-postijiet ta’ quddiem fil-mejda. Ikla bħal din ma kinetx sempliċiment ikla, imma kien ikun hemm  postijiet ta’ unur, u qisu jekk inti ssib post tajjeb, is-siġġu juri kemm int importanti… Read more »

Pope invites Christians to unite for Creation Day on September 1

Photo – Archdiocese of Malta – Ian Noel Pace

On September 1, Christians across the world unite to mark Creation Day, the annual celebration of the mystery of Creation.

Speaking at the Sunday Angelus, Pope Leo XIV recalled that Pope Francis extended the celebration to Catholics 10 years ago by instituting the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, saying prayer for Creation is “now more urgent and important than ever.”

“Together with all Christians, we celebrate it and extend it into the Season of Creation until October 4, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi,” he said… Read more »
