Jesus took Peter, John, and James and went up the mountain to pray. While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem… Read more »

Small acts, great good – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Hawn ma għandniex ħlief ħames ħobżiet u żewġ ħutiet” (Mt 14:17). Din hi r-risposta tad-dixxipli lil Ġesù, meta hu talabhom jagħtu lin-nies x’jieklu. Din il-ġrajja hija ġrajja li baqgħet magħrufa ħafna – aħna nafuha bħala dik tat-“tkattir tal-ħobż”, kif Ġesù tema’ ’l fuq minn ħamest elef ruħ b’ħames ħobżiet u żewġ ħutiet. Imma f’dil-ġrajja l-importanti mhux li nieqfu biss fuq il-miraklu bħala xi ħaġa ta’ stagħġib, imma li naraw il-mod kif Ġesù jagħmel dan il-miraklu – għax għandu ħafna x’jgħallimna… Read more »

Matul il-quddiesa tal-għeluq tal-Ġublew tat-Tama għaż-Żgħażagħ f’Tor Vergata, Ruma, il-Papa Ljun XIV fakkar liż-żgħażagħ li Ġesù huwa t-tama tagħna u ħeġġiġhom biex “jidħlu fl-avventura mal-Mulej”, għaliex fi kliemu l-Mulej “qiegħed iħabbat bil-mod fuq it-tieqa ta’ ruħna.”

Waqt What’s On Newsbook tal-lum fuq RTK103 tkellimt ma’ uħud miż-żgħażagħ Maltin li kienu preżenti għal dawn iċ-ċelebrazzjonijiet li għalihom attendew mal-miljun żagħżugħ u żagħżugħa… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 5th August

Readings of the day

First Reading: Numbers 12:1-13
Psalm: 50 (51):3-4,5-6a,6bc-7,12-13

Gospel: Matthew 14:22-36

After he had fed the people, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray.

When evening came, he was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”

Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. After the people of that place recognised him, they sent word throughout the region and brought all who were sick to him, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed… Read more »

We choose the real good that remains – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

Thanksgiving mass celebrated on the 25th anniversary of the Priestly Ordination of five priests and the 7th anniversary of the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Ilbieraħ ommi għalqet 25 sena mill-mewt tagħha, minn meta għaddiet għall-ħajja ta’ dejjem. Wieħed mill-messaġġi għeżież li dejjem tatni, lili u lill-familja kollha, u għamlet dan iktar b’ħajjitha milli sempliċiment bil-kelma, kien proprju dak li Ġesù jsemmi fl-Evanġelju tal-lum: fittex li tistagħna quddiem Alla; fittex l-ewwel dak li jibqa’, mhux dak li jgħaddi.

Għażlu li jistagħnu quddiem Alla

Illum qed niċċelebraw il-25 sena mill-Ordinazzjoni Presbiterali ta’ dawn il-ħames saċerdoti, li għandhom l-anniversarju ftit ġimgħat oħra.  Dak inhar tal-Ordinazzjoni għamlu din l-għażla kbira u sabiħa għal ħajjithom: li jfittxu li jkunu ta’ Alla, li jistagħnew quddiemu, li jqiegħdu l-ewwel dak li jibqa’, mhux dak li jgħaddi, u jagħtu xhieda b’ħajjithom ta’ dan… Read more »

Wealth as a tool of love, not as a throne of pride – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

“Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me” (Lk 12:13).

The Gospel passage opens with what seems like a simple, even just, request: a man asks Jesus to intervene in a family dispute over inheritance. But Jesus does not respond the way the man expects. He refuses to arbitrate in this dispute, and instead redirects the man’s concern… Read more »

The Pope at Angelus: Bring this joy, this enthusiasm to the whole world

Dear friends,

The Lord Jesus is present among us and within us: all things and all people in the Eucharist. United with him, we wish to offer up a huge “thank you” to the Father for the gift of these days of your Jubilee. It has been an outpouring of grace for the Church and for the whole world! This has been possible through the participation of each one of you… Read more »
