Psalm: 33: 2-11

Gospel: John 11: 19-27

Without boasting – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Żerriegħa tal-mustarda” (Mt 13:31) u “ftit ħmira” (Mt 13:33). Huma dawn iż-żewġ tixbihat li juża Ġesù fil-parabboli li jsemmi llum dwar is-saltna tas-smewwiet. Ġesù, meta jitkellem b’dawn il-parabboli, ma jagħmilx diskors infantili imma diskors sempliċi li fih ħafna għerf divin. Hawnhekk Ġesù qed iqabbel is-saltna tas-smewwiet ma’ kif taħdem żerriegħa tal-mustarda, u tikber; u x-xogħol li tagħmel ukoll il-ħmira.

Ħa naraw it-tifsira ta’ dawn… Read more »

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Mulej, għallimna nitolbu” (Lq 11:1). Din hi x-xewqa li wera wieħed mid-dixxipli lil Ġesù. Qallu hekk minħabba li d-dixxipli kienu rawh jitlob, u ndunaw li fil-ħajja ta’ Ġesù t-talb kien daqshekk importanti. Kienu raw il-mirakli li kien għamel, semgħu l-kliem tiegħu ta’ għerf, imma għarfu li fil-qalba ta’ dan kollu kien hemm it-talb – Ġesù kien jagħmel ħin twil fis-skiet jitlob… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 28th July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Exodus 32:15-24.30-34
Psalm: 105 (106):19-20,21-22,23

Gospel: Matthew 13:31-35

In those days, Jesus put before the crowd another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables; without a parable he told them nothing. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth to speak in parables; I will proclaim what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”  Read more »
