Il-messaġġ tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Onerevoli Prim Ministru u Ministru, personalitajiet distinti, l-ewwel nett grazzi ħafna ta’ din l-okkażjoni.

Hija xhieda konkreta li meta naħdmu flimkien, il-frott ikun ta’ benefiċċju għal kull wieħed u waħda minna. Illum nixtieq ninterpreta wkoll dak li qal il-Ministru, dak li qal Dr Jake [Azzopardi] – nirringrazzjak ħafna tal-entużjażjmu tiegħek. Lill-Prim Ministru dejjem ngħidlu: kull meta ltqajt miegħek dejjem kelli sens kbir ta’ tama, ta’ persuna li l-valuri tagħha huma valuri soċjali u li l-missjoni tagħha hija proprju li tagħti tama lil tant persuni li għandhom bżonn it-tama – tama li inti jkollok saqaf fuq rasek u bejta għall-imħabba u l-ħolm tiegħek… Read more »

“Araw qiegħed nibgħatkom bħal ħrief qalb l-ilpup” (Lq 10:3). Dan hu l-kliem ta’ Ġesù lit-tnejn u sebgħin dixxiplu li għażel, u li bagħathom biex imorru “qablu f’kull belt u post fejn kien se jmur hu” (Lq 10:1). Jagħtihom diversi struzzjonijiet, imma jgħidilhom ukoll li qed jibgħathom “bħal ħrief qalb l-ilpup”.

Xi jfisser dan il-kliem li jgħid Ġesù? … Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 7th July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Genesis 28:10-22a
Psalm: 90 (91):1-2,3-4,14-15ab

Gospel: Matthew 9:18-26

In those days, a leader of the synagogue came in and knelt before Jesus, saying, “My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples.

Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.”

Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.

When Jesus came to the leader’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, “Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. And the report of this spread throughout that district.  Read more »

Mass on the 20th anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II and the 35th anniversary of his pastoral visit to Malta in 1990

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Dawn il-Ħdud ta’ din is-sena, matul is-sena qed naqraw l-Evanġelju ta’ San Luqa. San Luqa huwa ħabib tagħna l-Maltin u l-Għawdxin għaliex fiż-żewġ kotba li kiteb, l-Evanġelju u l-Atti tal-Appostli, isemmina kif isemmi wkoll ir-rakkont tal-miġja ta’ San Pawl fostna.

Grati ħafna lejn dan l-Evanġelista li kien tabib, Luqa, li wkoll hu evanġelista missjunarju. Fl-Evanġelju u fl-Atti tal-Appostli, San Luqa jagħtina riflessjoni dwar il-missjoni ta’ min jieħu sehem dak kollu li ġabilna Ġesù… Read more »

St. Ignatius College Prof. Edward de Bono Handaq Middle School

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm knisja f’Ruma, San Luigi dei Francesi, li fiha hemm pittura sabiħa tas-sejħa ta’ Mattew, li għadna smajna fl-Evanġelju. Hija pittura ta’ Caravaggio, u hemm tliet pitturi fejn xulxin ta’ Caravaggio fuq San Mattew: is-Sejħa, l-Ispirazzjoni u l-Mewt.

Hija pittura sabiħa ħafna – nistedinkom biex, xi mument, tfittxuha u tarawha – għaliex tfisser b’mod tajjeb ħafna l-messaġġ li jagħtina l-Evanġelju llum għall-ħajja tagħna… Read more »
