Ecological crisis requires contemplative gaze – The Pope

Holy Mass for the Care of Creation

  Castel Gandolfo, Rome

Homily by Pope Leo XIV

On this beautiful day, I would begin by asking everyone, including myself, to take stock of what we are celebrating here amid the beauty of what might be called a “cathedral” of nature, with so many plants and elements of creation that have brought us together to celebrate the Eucharist, which means to give thanks to the Lord.

There are many reasons to thank the Lord in today’s Eucharist… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 10th July

Readings of the day

First Reading: Genesis 44:18-21,23b-29; 45:1-5
Psalm: 104 (105):16-17,18-19,20-21

Gospel: Matthew 10:7-15

In those days, Jesus told his apostles, “As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment. Take no gold, or silver, or copper in your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for laborers deserve their food.

Whatever town or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. As you enter the house, greet it. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town.

Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgement than for that town.  Read more »

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Qabdu jiddieħku bih” (Mt 9:24). Dan hu li naqraw f’din l-istorja mill-Evanġelju skont San Mattew, li tirrakkontalna anzi żewġ stejjer flimkien: il-fejqan tal-mara li kienet ilha tnax-il sena tbati mit-tnixxija tad-demm, u l-qawmien għall-ħajja tat-tifla ta’ wieħed mill-kapijiet. Ħa naraw ftit din il-ġrajja, u nħarsu lejn dawn in-nies li resqu lejn Ġesù, kif ukoll lejn Ġesù nnifsu.

L-ewwel nett, wieħed mill-kapijiet li mar ikellem lil Ġesù, inxteħet f’riġlejh, u qallu: “Binti iss’issa għadha kemm mietet… Read more »

First Reading: Gen 32:22-32
Psalm: 16 (17):1,2-3,6-7,8b u 15

Gospel: Matthew 9:32-38

A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”
