“We will continue to remember Pope Francis as the missionary of God’s mercy” – the Archbishop

Ritratt: Arċidjoċesi ta’ Malta

Fl-ewwel kummenti tiegħu ma’ Newsbook Malta wara li tħabbret il-mewta ta’ Papa Franġisku l-Arċisqof Charles Scicluna qal li għandna nitolbu għal ruħu u nibqgħu nifakruh bħala “il-missjunarju tal-ħniena t’Alla”. Hu fakkar li kien fl-2016 meta l-Papa Franġisku nieda l-Ġublew tal-Ħniena u kif il-pastorali tiegħu dejjem kellha l-għan li tkun viċin dawk li għandhom bżonn l-aktar il-ħniena t’Alla… Read more »

Pope: Easter faith spurs us to seek the risen Lord with hope and joy

Mary Magdalene, seeing that the stone of the tomb had been rolled away, ran to tell Peter and John. After receiving the shocking news, the two disciples also went out and — as the Gospel says — “the two were running together” (Jn 20:4). The main figures of the Easter narratives all ran! On the one hand, “running” could express the concern that the Lord’s body had been taken away; but, on the other hand, the haste of Mary Magdalene, Peter and John expresses the desire, the yearning of the heart, the inner attitude of those who set out to search for Jesus… Read more »

We pray to God that we may work, walk and express the same faith together – The Archbishop

Mass on Easter Sunday

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

1,700 sena ilu, fis-sena tal-Mulej 325, l-Imperatur Kostantinu sejjaħ lill-isqfijiet f’post li llum hu fit-Turkija, Niċea. Read more »

A firm faith that never denies Jesus – The Archbishop

Easter Vigil of the Resurrection of the Lord

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Aħna wkoll fil-mumenti ta’ dlam naħsbu li din l-aħbar hi biss thewdin bħalma ġralhom l-Appostli.

In-nisa li l-Evanġelju ta’ San Luqa jsemmihom b’isimhom —”Marija ta’ Magdala u Ġwanna u Marija ta’ Ġakbu u n-nisa l-oħra li kellhom magħhom” (Lq 24:1-10)— kienu wasslu l-aħbar li l-qabar li fih ippretendew li jsibu l-katavru tal-imgħallem mislub u mejjet, kien vojt.

“F’daqqa waħda dehrulhom quddiemhom żewġt irġiel libsin ilbies jiddi… Read more »

A passion for human life – Archbishop Charles Scicluna

Article by Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing,” exclaimed Jesus, as he clung to his final earthly moments on the cross while his mocking tormentors looked on.

Yet, he was not condemning them. Enlightened by the knowledge that many of our failings emanate from ignorance – or a misplaced trust in the pleasures, riches, and enticements of this transient world – Jesus was, in that trying moment, coming to their aid as an advocate; and also telling us he is prepared to intervene in our defence to secure our salvation… Read more »
