A striking contrast – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm kuntrast qawwi li Ġesù joħloq illum, fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark, bejn min-naħa l-waħda l-kittieba, li kienu nies influenti fis-soċjetà ta’ żmienu, u min-naħa l-oħra l-armla fqira, li ma kellha ebda influenza fis-soċjetà. Permezz ta’ dan il-kuntrast, Ġesù jrid iwassal messaġġ li hu importanti ħafna għall-ħajja tagħna.

It-Tentazzjoni tal-apparenzi

X’jgħid Ġesù fuq il-kittieba? Jgħid li dawn kienu jidhru minn barra li qed jagħmlu ħafna affarijiet sbieħ u tajbin, bħal meta jdumu jitolbu, iduru mat-toroq… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: Offer tenderness and steer clear of hypocrisy

  Saint Peter's Square, Vatican City

Dear brothers and sisters, good Sunday!

Today the Gospel of the liturgy (cf. Mk 12:38-44) tells us about Jesus who, in the temple of Jerusalem, denounces before the people the hypocritical attitude of some scribes (cf. vv. 38-40).

These latter were accorded an important role in the community of Israel: they read, transcribed and interpreted the Scriptures… Read more »

Using our heads for what is good – Bishop Galea‑Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Amministratur ħażin” (Lq 16:8). Hekk isejjaħlu Ġesù lil dan l-amministratur li fuqu qal din l-istorja – storja ta’ bniedem għani li kellu amministratur, u lil dan xlewh lil sidu li kien qed iberbaqlu ġidu. Jidher li s-sid emminha din, għax meta sejjaħlu, qallu: “ma tistax tibqa’ iżjed amministratur tiegħi” (Lq 16:2). Imma jidher li anke l-amministratur b’xi mod ammettieha din, għax meta sejjaħlu sidu, ma qallux: isma’, dan li qed tisma’ fuqi huma xnigħat foloz, mhu veru xejn, ħa nurik kif mhux veru… Read more »
