Working migrants share insights of navigating life in Malta with the Archbishop

The prohibitive increase in housing costs and the conflicting emotions of joy and anxiety that came with living in Malta were the issues working migrants raised with Archbishop Charles Scicluna on 30th April 2024, eve of the feast of St Joseph the Worker.

Several migrants from Sub-Saharan and West Africa, as well as South and Southeast Asia who gathered at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana, thanked the Archbishop for welcoming them as a father, while acknowledging the Church’s role as a defender of workers’ dignity… Read more »

For St George Preca the bond of love was the basis of unity

Mass on the feast of St Ġorġ Preca

  The MUSEUM Auditorium, Blata l-Bajda

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Din is-sena nixtieq inpoġġi lill-pajjiż tagħna, b’mod speċjali bl-interċessjoni ta’ San Ġorġ Preca, aħna u niċċelebraw ftit tax-xhur oħra, 60 sena mill-Indipendenza, u 50 sena mir-Repubblika. Aħna l-Isqfijiet qegħdin noffru lill-poplu tagħna l-okkażjoni li nirriflettu flimkien fuq il-ħames barkiet, kif sejjaħnilhom, li Dun Karm Psaila fl-1922 introduċa fit-tieni stanza tal-Innu Malti. Il-barkiet tad-dehen, tal-ħniena, tas-saħħa, tal-għaqda u tas-sliem.

San Ġorġ Preca, li twieled fl-1880, kellu 42 sena meta indaqq l-Innu Malti għall-ewwel darba… Read more »

come at least spiritually into my heart… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 10th May

Readings of the day

First Reading: Acts 18:9-18
Psalm: 47(46):2-3,4-5,6-7

Gospel: John 16:20-23a

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. We hold God’s masterpiece in our heart – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Marija baqgħet tgħożż f’qalbha dawn il-ħwejjeġ kollha” (Lq 2:19). Din is-silta mill-Evanġelju skont San Luqa turina lir-rgħajja li jmorru jaraw lil Ġesù li twieled, wara li kellhom id-dehra mill-anġli li ħabbrulhom li twieled is-Salvatur – “Illum, fil-belt ta’ David, tweldilkom Salvatur li hu l-Messija, il-Mulej” (Lq 2:11). Fl-aħħar ta’ din is-silta hemm din is-sentenza sabiħa: “Marija baqgħet tgħożż f’qalbha l-ħwejjeġ kollha u taħseb fuqhom bejnha u bejn ruħha”… Read more »

Bull of indiction of the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025

  St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican

1. SPES NON CONFUNDIT. “Hope does not disappoint” (Rom 5:5). In the spirit of hope, the Apostle Paul addressed these words of encouragement to the Christian community of Rome. Hope is also the central message of the coming Jubilee that, in accordance with an ancient tradition, the Pope proclaims every twenty-five years. My thoughts turn to all those pilgrims of hope who will travel to Rome in order to experience the Holy Year and to all those others who, though unable to visit the City of the Apostles Peter and Paul, will celebrate it in their local Churches… Read more »
