St Joseph: a righteous man who learned to trust in the Lord – The Archbishop

Mass on the feast of St Joseph

The Church of the Nativity of Our Lady (Ta' Ġieżu), Rabat

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Ġużeppi, bin David, xejn la tibża’ tieħu għandek lil martek Marija” (Mt 1:20). Min hu dan Ġużeppi? L-Evanġelista San Mattew jgħidilna li kien bin David, min-nisel ta’ David.  Għalhekk il-belt ta’ missirijietu kienet Betlehem. Imma hu raġel, li għażel li jgħix f’belt ċkejkna, jisimha Nazaret, belt tal-Galilija u mhux tal-Lhudija; belt li ma kellhiex fama mill-aqwa. “Tista’ toħroġ xi ħaġa tajba minn Nazaret?” (Ġw 1:46); l-ebda profeta ma jista’ joħroġ minn Nazaret… Read more »

The Lord is kind and just – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Beda jikteb b’sebgħu fit-trab” (Ġw 8:6). Dan hu li naqraw fuq Ġesù li kien qiegħed it-tempju, u l-kittieba u l-Fariżej ħadulu quddiemu waħda mara li nqabdet fl-adulterju. Staqsewh x’jagħmlu, jekk jimxux mal-liġi ta’ Mosè li kienet tgħid li nies bħal dawn iħaġġruhom. Dil-mistoqsija ma għamluhiex lil Ġesù għax kellhom xi dubju, jew biex jiċċaraw l-affarijiet, imma, kif jgħid l-Evanġelju, “biex iġarrbuh” (Ġw 8:6)… Read more »

Like a kernel of wheat – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Parish Church, Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Nixtiequ naraw lil Ġesù” (Ġw 12:21).  Din kienet it-talba li xi Griegi għamlu lil Filippu, wieħed mid-dixxipli ta’ Ġesù, għax xtaqu jaraw lil Ġesù. Kellhom din il-kurżità, u tkellmu ma’ Filippu, li mbagħad mar isib lil Indrì, dixxiplu ieħor, u t-tnejn li huma marru jgħidu lil Ġesù.

Tolqotna ħafna r-reazzjoni ta’ Ġesù.  Jgħid: “Waslet is-siegħa li fiha Bin il-bniedem ikun igglorifikat” (Ġw 12:23)… Read more »

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Today, fifth Sunday of Lent, as we draw closer to Holy Week, Jesus in the Gospel (cf. Jn 12:20-33) tells us something important: that on the Cross we will see His glory and that of the Father (cf. vv. 23, 28).

But how is it possible that the glory of God manifest itself right there, on the Cross? … Read more »
