Caring for each other – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the World Day of the Sick 2024

St Vincent de Paule Residence, Luqa

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Mhux sewwa li l-bniedem jibqa’ waħdu” (Ġen 2:18). Dan il-kliem insibuh fil-ktieb tal-Ġenesi, fl-Iskrittura. Huwa kliem li qalu Alla fil-ħolqien, u huwa dan li l-Papa Franġisku ħa bħala t-titlu tal-messaġġ tiegħu għal Jum il-Morda.

Mhux sewwa li l-bniedem jibqa’ waħdu, għax meta Alla ħalaq lill-bniedem, ma ħalqux biex jibqa’ waħdu, iżolat, imma biex flimkien ma’ oħrajn jista’ jibni relazzjoni ta’ mħabba… Read more »

He included those who were excluded – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Church of Saint Agatha, Rabat

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Il-marda tal-lebbra fi żmien Ġesù, u qablu, kienet marda li toħloq tbatija kbira lin-nies vittmi tagħha, għax kienet marda li kienet taqta’ lil min kien marid mis-soċjetà. Fil-fatt, rajna fil-Ktieb tal-Levitiku x’kellu jagħmel min kien marid bil-lebbra: li jżomm ruħu ’l bogħod min-nies, li jekk jara lil xi ħadd jersaq, jgħajjat “imniġġes, imniġġes” (Lev 13:45) biex dak li jkun ma jersaqx fil-qrib… Read more »

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Today’s Gospel presents us with the healing of a leper (cf. Mk 1:40-45). To the sick man, who implores Him, Jesus answers: “I will; be clean!” (v. 41). He utters a very simple phrase, which He immediately puts into practice. Indeed, “immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean” (v. 42)… Read more »
