I don’t deserve – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Ma jistħoqqlix li inti tidħol taħt is-saqaf tiegħi” (Lq 7:6). Dan huwa l-kliem li ċ-ċenturjun bagħat jgħid ma’ xi ħbieb lil Ġesù, meta talbu biex jiġi jfejjaq il-qaddej tiegħu. Dan iċ-ċenturjun kellu qaddej li kien għażiż ħafna għalih u li kien wasal fl-aħħar. L-ewwel bagħat messaġġ lil Ġesù ma’ xi xjuħ tal-Lhud. Dan iċ-ċenturjun ma kienx wieħed mill-poplu Lhudi, ma kienx Lhudi, imma kien jistmagħhom… Read more »

  Saint Peter's Square, The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Seven, in the Bible, is a number that indicates completeness, and so Peter is very generous in the assumptions of his question… Read more »

Psalm: 27 (28):2,7,8-9

Gospel: Luke 7:1-10

After Jesus had finished all his words to the people, he entered Capernaum. A centurion there had a slave whom he valued highly, and who was ill and close to death. When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave. When they came to Jesus, they appealed to him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy of having you do this for him, for he loves our people, and it is he who built our synagogue for us.”

And Jesus went with them, but when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to say to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; therefore I did not presume to come to you… Read more »

We should approach the Lord for forgiveness without hesitation – The Archbishop

Mass on the 24th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Church of the Lady of Sorrows, Ħamrun

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Pietru, f’isimna lkoll, jagħmel domanda importanti lil Ġesù; domanda li ħafna drabi fil-ħajja tagħna forsi nistaqsuha mingħajr ma rridu. Jaf inkunu nqasna xi ħadd jew ngħaddu minn mument diffiċli u mingħajr ma rridu nimtlew bir-rabja. “Mulej, xi kemm-il darba jrid jonqosni ħija biex jiena naħfirlu? Sa seba’ darbiet?” (Mt 18:21).

Fl-iskola ta’ Ġesù, Pietru qiegħed jitgħallem ikun ġeneruż għax in-numru sebgħa jfisser kwantità kbira… Read more »
