In those days, they sent to Jesus some Pharisees and some Herodians to trap him in what he said. And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality, but teach the way of God in accordance with truth… Read more »

A place that must be a sign of God’s presence among us – The Archbishop

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Qegħdin nikkonsagraw dan il-post ta’ kult, ta’ qima, aħna u nibdew il-festa solenni ta’ Pentekoste, ta’ Għid il-Ħamsin. Ejjew nirringrazzjaw lill-Mulej tad-don tal-Ispirtu s-Santu li l-Mulej isejjaħlu ‘għajn’, “xmajjar ta’ ilma ħaj” (Ġw 7:38).

Fil-bidu ta’ dan ir-rit raxxaxna l-ilma mbierek fuq dan il-post, fuqna. Din il-ħaġa tfakkarna li dak li qegħdin nikkonsagraw illum hu sinjal ukoll tal-għaqda ta’ bejnietna… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: God is a communion of love

Solemnity of the Holy Trinity

  St Peter's Square, the Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

Today, Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, the Gospel is taken from the Jesus’ dialogue with Nicodemus (cf. Jn 3:16-18). Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin, passionate about the mystery of God: he recognizes in Jesus a divine master and goes to speak to him in secret, in the night. Jesus listens to him, understands he is a man on a quest, and then first he surprises him, answering that to enter the Kingdom of God one must be reborn; then he reveals the heart of the mystery to him, saying that God loved humanity so much that he sent his Son into the world… Read more »

Feast of love – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  Dar tal-Kleru Chapel, Birkirkara

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm affarijiet fil-ħajja li nagħmluhom, li huma importanti, u li kultant ma niqfux nirriflettu fuqhom. Waħda minnhom hi r-radd tas-salib, meta aħna ngħidu: “Fl-isem tal-Missier, u tal-Iben, u tal-Ispirtu s-Santu”. Hija xi ħaġa importanti ħafna!

Il-festa kbira tal-lum – is-solennità tat-Trinità Qaddisa – tgħinna biex nirriflettu fuq dak li nagħmlu dejjem meta rroddu s-salib, u ħafna drabi wkoll bit-talb tal-quddies, meta aħna ngħidu li qed insellmu lill-Missier, lill-Iben u lill-Ispirtu s-Santu… Read more »

The Trinity: where love is not an island

“No man is an island”. This often repeated phrase has its origin four hundred years ago this year, when the English poet and Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, John Donne, wrote a book called Devotions upon Emergent Occasions, which was published the following year in 1624. “No man is an island” is a famous section of one of the Meditations in this book… Read more »
