Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world… Read more »

Pope at Audience: What courage these holy missionaries had

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

Continuing our itinerary of the Catecheses with some exemplary models of apostolic zeal, today we recall, we are speaking about evangelization, about apostolic zeal, of bearing the name of Jesus. And there are many women and men in history who have done this in an exemplary way. Today, for example, we choose as an example, Saint Francis Xavier, who some say is considered the greatest missionary of modern times… Read more »

“Kif ħabbejtkom jien.” Dan huwa l-kliem li jgħid Ġesù lid-dixxipli tiegħu fl-Evanġelju llum, meta kien qed ifissrilhom il-kmandament tal-imħabba. Qalilhom: “Dan hu l-kmandament tiegħi: li tħobbu lil xulxin kif ħabbejtkom jien” (Ġw 15:12). Hawnhekk Ġesù qed jgħid lid-dixxipli tiegħu li hu jrid li l-imħabba tkun il-qalba tal-ħajja tagħhom, anke tal-ħajja tagħhom flimkien. Imma mbagħad jispjegalhom x’qed ifisser bl-imħabba… Read more »

Statement by the Archdiocese of Malta

In a recent blog post, Simon Mercieca, a professor of history at the University of Malta, alleged that Archbishop Charles Scicluna is a member of Opus Dei.

This is totally untrue.

Contrary to the misleading statement made by Prof. Mercieca, the Archbishop is not, and never has been, a member of Opus Dei. Read more »

If you are devoted to the Virgin Mary, try to imitate one of her virtues – Archbishop

  Sacro Cuore Parish Church, Tas-Sliema

Ejjew nirriflettu ftit fuq dan il-ġest li qiegħda tagħmel din il-parroċċa llum. L-għotja tal-warda tad-deheb hija tradizzjoni antika ħafna ta’ dehniet Insara u kienet omaġġ, sinjal ta’ qima. L-għotja tal-warda tad-deheb lill-Madonna tagħżilha bħala Sultana ta’ qalbna, u fl-istess ħin tfisser impenn.

Sidtna Marija, kif issaltan? Issaltan fil-qadi. Għax dan tgħallmet fl-iskola tal-Kelma ta’ Alla; dan għamel fiha l-Ispirtu s-Santu, meta minn ġuf ommha, sa mit-tnissil, ħarisha minn kull tebgħa tad-dnub… Read more »
