Lenten Reflections: The Palm

“Jekk l-Iben jeħliskom, tkunu tabilħaqq ħielsa.”  Ġw 8:36

F’Ħadd il-Palm nisimgħu dwar ir-rakkont tal-passjoni ta’ Ġesù, kif ukoll id-daħla tiegħu f’Ġerusalemm waqt il-purċissjoni bil-friegħi, li ssir qabel ma nibdew il-quddies.

Fl-antik il-friegħi tal-palm kienu simbolu ta’ rebħa. Fit-Testment il-Qadim, insibu li l-palm kien jintuża f’okkażjonijiet ta’ festi, ferħ u vittorja. Infatti s-slaten kienu jiġu milqugħin bi friegħi tal-palm mifruxin quddiemhom… Read more »

They gave a dinner for him there, and Martha served, while Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with him. Let’s join Jesus in his humility, patience and self-giving – Archbishop

  Saint John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

It-talba li l-Knisja titlob f’dan il-jum għażiż u solenni f’Ħadd il-Palm u l-passjoni tal-Mulej hija talba ispirata mill-eżempju ta’ Ġesù u ssemmi żewġ attributi tal-eżempju ta’ Ġesù: l-eżempju tal-umiltà u s-sabar tiegħu.

Ejjew nitolbu f’ġieħ il-passjoni ħarxa ta’ Ġesù d-don kbir tal-umiltà, li aħna nipperswadu ruħna li ma nistgħux insalvaw lilna nfusna, imma li għandna bżonn radikali ta’ Alla, li għandna bżonn salvatur, li meta mingħalina niddeċiedu aħna xi jfisser progress mingħajr ma nifhmu xi jrid jgħidilna Alla, naqgħu fid-dagħbien, mhux tal-progress, imma tal-qerda tagħna nfusna.

L-umiltà mhijiex it-tkasbir tad-dinjità tagħna, imma lezzjoni profonda li tagħtina ħelsien kbir li aħna niddependu minn Alla… Read more »
