Lenten Reflections: The Light

“Jiena d-dawl tad-dinja. Min jiġi warajja ma jimxix fid-dlam, iżda jkollu d-dawl tal-ħajja.” Ġwanni 8:12

Fir-raba’ Ħadd tar-Randan jissemma l-fejqan ta’ raġel għama minn twelidu. Fil-Malti nużaw il-frażi “nieqes mid-dawl”. Interessanti kif bil-Grieg, il-lingwa li t-Testment l-Ġdid inkiteb biha, il-kelma ‘dawl’ hi ‘phos’. Apparti li tirreferi għal dawl fiżiku, bħad- dawl tax-xemx jew id-dawl tal-lampa, tirreferi wkoll għall-għerf u l-verità. Il-kelma għami, bil-Grieg hi ‘tuphlos’ u tirreferi wkoll għal xi ħadd dgħajjef spiritwalment, jew nieqes mill-intelliġenza… Read more »

Real things are seen through the heart – The Archbishop

Mass on the fourth Sunday of Lent

The Parish Church of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Fgura

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Illum qegħdin naqraw dan l-Evanġelju, li hu pjuttost twil, allura l-omelija trid tkun qasira biex inpattu naqra. Ħsieb qasir ispirat propju minn dan id-djalogu u qawwi bejn ħafna protagonisti. Imma nnutaw Ġesù, u hekk jibda dan l-Evanġelju, “kien għaddej u jilmaħ raġel għama minn twelidu” (Ġw 9:1). ’Il quddiem nirrealizzaw ukoll li dan l-għama minn twelidu, peress li ma setax jaħdem, kien emarġinat fis-soċjetà, kien tallab, hekk kien jgħix… Read more »

The first and the second together – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Liema wieħed, fost il-kmandamenti kollha, huwa l-ewwel?” (Mk 12:28) Din kienet id-domanda li wieħed mill-kittieba għamel lil Ġesù, kif rajna fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark. Kienet domanda li kienu jagħmluha kultant l-għorrief bejniethom biex jiddiskutu. Ir-raġuni kienet li filwaqt li aħna llum, meta nisimgħu l-kelma “kmandamenti”, mal-ewwel immorru għall-għaxar kmandamenti li Alla ta lill-poplu Lhudi permezz ta’ Mosè, fi żmien Ġesù kien hemm numru kbir ta’ kmandamenti, preċetti, regolamenti, u dak kollu li b’xi mod jew ieħor kellhom jagħmlu – jgħidu li kien hemm 648… Read more »
