come at least spiritually into my heart… Read more »

The Assumption of Our Lady reminds us of the resurrection – The Archbishop

Mass on the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the titular statue of the Assumption of Our Lady

The Parish Church of the Assumption of Our Lady, Mġarr

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Marija ta’ Magdala tersaq lejn il-qabar ta’ Ġesù, fl-ewwel jum tal-ġimgħa, il-Ħadd. Kienet qed tfittex il-katavru għażiż ta’ Ġesù. L-idea tagħha, bħal ta’ nisa devoti oħra, kienet li jidilku l-ġisem għażiż, imma mejjet ta’ Ġesù bil-fwejjaħ. Att ta’ qima u ta’ mħabba; imma li fl-istess ħin ma jsirx u lanqas ixejjen il-liġi tat-tħassir ta’ kull ġisem li jmut. Tmur ħdejn il-qabar u mhux biss issib il-ġebla mgerrba imma wkoll il-qabar vojt… Read more »

The Archbishop asks: How is the Risen Lord different?

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

F’dawn il-ġranet u f’dawn il-ġimgħat se nisimgħu diversi rakkonti tal-qawmien ta’ Ġesù mill-imwiet. Waħda mill-affarijiet li toloqtna hija li d-dixxipli għexu miegħu għal minn tal-anqas tliet snin u kienu jafuh sew; bħalma kienet tafu sew Marija ta’ Magdala li kienet marret fil-jum tal-Ħadd ħdejn il-qabar tfittex katavru biex tkompli r-ritwal tad-dilka bil-fwejjaħ. Kienet taf lil Ġesù, kienet taf il-fatizzi tiegħu imma l-Evanġelju jinsisti li ħarset lejh u ma għarfitux… Read more »

Bishop Teuma reveals what the Pope told him in Gozo

L-Isqof Anton Teuma jiżvela dak li qallu l-Papa f’Għawdex

Fil-ħin li l-Papa Franġisku kien akkumpanjat mill-Isqof Anton Teuma tul iż-żjara tiegħu f’Għawdex, huma kellhom diskursati profondi flimkien. Fil-fatt wara ż-żjara l-Isqof t’Għawdex beda jikteb dak li qallu għax “dak il-kliem ma jridx jintilef”.

New Creation in Christ – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Solemn Easter Vigil of the Lord's Resurrection

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Bħal-lum 95 sena ilu twieled il-Papa Emeritu Benedittu XVI. Dakinhar kien ukoll Sibt il-Għid. Imwieled f’Sibt il-Għid, il-Papa Benedittu XVI hu wieħed minn dawk li jfisser b’mod hekk sabiħ il-ġrajja tal-Qawmien ta’ Kristu, l-ikbar ġrajja għalina. Nixtieq li nieħu żewġ espressjonijiet li hu jgħid, li fihom tifsira kbira ħafna u li lilna jistgħu jkunu wkoll ta’ għajnuna għall-ħajja tagħna. Isejjaħ il-ġrajja tal-qawmien ta’ Ġesù Kristu “splużjoni ta’ dawl” u “splużjoni ta’ mħabba”… Read more »

The joy of Pope Francis – The Archbishop

Pontiff reminded us that Easter is the light glowing softly in the darkness

Article by Archbishop Charles Scicluna

As Pope Francis bade farewell to a relatively long queue of staffers and guests at the Apostolic Nunciature in Rabat towards the end of his two-day trip to Malta, he turned to me and said with a characteristic twinkle in his eye: “Questo congedo è stato più lungo di quello de La Traviata” (this farewell is longer than the one in La Traviata)… Read more »
