New Parish Priests’ Council 2018-2020

  • Il-Kulleġġ tal-Kappillani tal-Knisja f’Malta għadu kemm ħatar Kunsill ġdid għas-snin 2018 – 2020.  Il-Kunsill tal-Kappillani huwa ffurmat minn seba’ membri tal-Kulleġġ tal-Kappillani li hu magħmul mis-70 kappillan tal-parroċċi f’Malta. Il-Kunsill hu ffurmat hekk:

Pope Paul VI and Archbishop Oscar Romero will be canonised

  • The Vatican announced on Wednesday that Pope Francis has recognized a second miracle allowing five people on the path to sainthood to be canonised, the most prominent being Bl. Pope Paul VI and Bl. Oscar Romero.

Archbishop Joseph Spiteri appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon

  • The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Joseph Spiteri, Titular Archbishop of Serta and presently Apostolic Nuncio in Ivory Coast, as the new Apostolic Nuncio for the Holy See to Lebanon.

    Mgr Joseph Spiteri was born in Sliema in 1959 and ordained to the priesthood in 1984. After pursuing his studies in Canon Law, he joined the Holy See’s diplomatic service, working in Panama, Iraq, Mexico, Portugal, Greece and Venezuela…

Holy See defends children’s rights before the UN’s Human Rights Council

  • Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič’s third statement defends the rights of children. This statement follows one consisting in the affirmation of the role of culture in society and a second covering freedom of religion or belief.

    25% of children suffer from humanitarian disasters

    Responding to the High Commissioner’s Report on the protection of children’s rights in humanitarian situations, Archbishop Jurkovič says that the Holy See believes that while there has been some progress, “we are deeply concerned by the fact that, in 2017, around 535 million children were affected by humanitarian disasters; this represents one child out of four in the world.”
