DIOCESAN ECUMENICAL SERVICE

The public is invited to attend a Diocesan Ecumenical Sercvice to be held on Wednesday, 19th January 2011, at 6.30 p.m, at St Publius’ Parish Church, Floriana. The theme chosen is: “One in the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer” (Acts 2,42).

On Saturday 15th January, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP  celebrated Mass at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, for couples that celebrated their marriage during 2010.

In his homily, Archbishop Cremona stated that nobody should come between spouses; those individuals who entered the sacrament of marriage should abide by their marital consent and remain faithful to one another. Mons Cremons explained how it is not circumstances that dictate how a marriage fares, but rather it is love that transforms circumstances; he insisted upon the importance of forgiveness between the spouses.  … Read more »

John Paul II’s remains will be moved from the Grotto located beneath St. Peter’s Basilica to a chapel in the main Church, the Vatican revealed.

“The transportation of the coffin will take place without exhumation,” reported the semi-official Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, “hence Pope [John Paul II’s] body will not be exposed.”

The newspaper reported that the body of John Paul II will be “enclosed” and that the placement of his body will be marked “by a simple marble stone engraved with: Beatus Ioannes Paulus II.”

World Youth Day organizers have issued a call for musicians to participate in the orchestra and choir for the ceremonies with Benedict XVI in Madrid this coming August.

Young people with classical instrument and vocal training are invited to be part of the volunteer orchestra and choir to animate the youth day events. The invitation is extended to advanced instrumentalists in the string, wind and percussion sections, as well as professional or advanced amateur singers… Read more »
