MARRIAGEWEEK: 7th – 13th FEBRUARY

On Friday 4th February 2011, a Press Conference was held, during which the programme of activities for Marriage Week (7th – 13th February) was announced.

Marriage Week was held for the first time in Malta in 2010.  That year, the activities consisted primarily of two National Conferences, one on 6th February and the other on the 13th.  The main speakers during the first conference were the Prime Minister and Mrs Gonzi, and the Leader of the Opposition and Mrs Muscat, who shared their views on the definition of ‘healthy marriage’ and what action could be taken to further strengthen marriages in our country.  … Read more »

VATICAN PLANS CONFERENCE, PASTORAL GUIDELINES ON AIDS CARE

The Vatican will host international scientists at a conference on AIDS in late May, an encounter church officials hope will help clarify Pope Benedict XVI’s recent comments on condom use in AIDS prevention, a Vatican official said. ARCHBISHOP MEETS I.T.U. STAFF OF MATER DEI HOSPITAL

On Tuesday, 1st February 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. held a meeting with around 90 specialists, doctors and nurses who work at the Intensive Care Unit at Mater Dei Hospital. During this meeting they discussed several topics related to treatment being received by patients who are seriously ill and facing near death. BENEDICT XVI TO PRAY FOR THE FAMILY IN FEBRUARY

Benedict XVI is dedicating the month of February to pray for the family.

The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for February.

His general intention is: “That all may respect the family and recognize it for its unmatched contribution to the advancement of society.”

The Pontiff’s apostolic intention for this month is: “That Christian communities may witness to the presence of Christ in serving those who suffer from disease in those mission territories where the fight against disease is most urgent.”

Seminar on the Family for Youth

The Link Youth Group from the parish of St George in Qormi will be organizing a national seminar entitled Familja: Diversita, Sforz u Sagrifficju?  This activity is being held in collaboration with the Youth Diocesan Commission and the Diocesan Commission for the Family. Unfortunately, many times, within the circles they frequent, youths are faced only with negative factors affecting the family and so this seminar has the aim of leading them to view positively the realities of family life… Read more »

Between Monday 7th February and Sunday 13th February, Progett Impenn shall be joining a number of other countries to celebrate Marriage Week.

During a Press Conference which will be held next Friday 4th February, a number of details will be given regarding activities which will be held for the occasion.  Further information will include services which are offered by Church entities who work in favour of  and together with spouses and engaged couples

NEW PARISH PRIEST FOR MELLIEHA

Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Fr Joe Caruana as the new parish priest of Mellieha.

Fr Caruana was born in Mellieha on 2nd August, 1960. He received his primary education in Mellieha and his secondary education at the Minor Seminary, Floriana.
