On Friday, 9th July, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP attended the graduation ceremony at the Caritas Centre of San Blas. Archbishop Cremona praised the sense of initiative shown by Caritas especially since 17 graduates could start their lives all over again.
The Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi, opposition leader, Dr. Joseph Muscat and Caritas director, Mgr Victor Grech were present for the ceremony. Dr. Gonzi also praised the 25 years of service given by Caritas. The Prime Minister claimed that despite the hardships these individuals faced, yet, Caritas always offered a helping hand.
Mgr Victor Grech brought the ceremony to a close by stating that unfortunately according to recent figures, the amount of people making use of such substances has gone sky high with an increase of 29% since 2004. However, Mgr Grech accentuated that the main aim of Caritas will remain to help individuals find new meanings for their lives.
