The number of Church marriages registered in the Archdiocese of Malta during the year 2010 was 1,616. This marks an increase of 12% over the previous year, which registered 1,423 marriages.

1,379 of the total number of marriages registrered during 2010, were marriages between Maltese citizens. There were 63 marriages between Maltese and foreigners, divided as follows:  14 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Catholics; 12 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Christians; 8 between Maltese Catholics to non-Christians.  Also registered were 16 marriages between Maltese citizens living in a foreign country and 153 marriages between foreign couples.

In 2010, 68 persons (34 men and 34 women) from 32 different countries were married to Maltese citizens in Church, as follows:  from the UK (6), Italy (4), Philippines (4), Turkey (4); Ukraine (4); Russia (4), Ireland (4), Hungary and Australia (4). The most popular months for marriages were June (282), May (260) and July (219).

In 2010, 57 marriages were convalidated.  A convalidated marriage is a civil marriage in which the spouses request to be married in the Church.

During the same period, there were 20 widows/widowers who re-married as well as 24 persons who re-married following a declaration of nullity of their previous marriage.
