On the occasion of the World Day of Urban Planning, celebrated today 8th November, the Interdiocesan Environment Commission sent a letter to the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, to the European College Commissioners and to the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani. In 2017, the Archdiocese of Malta registered a decrease of €1.44 million in its net surplus to €0.37 million, down from €1.81 million in 2016.

Expenditure went up due to the continuous drive to improve pastoral services, resulting in additional employees across the entities of the Archdiocese. Following intense negotiations, the Church Authorities and the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) have agreed on a Collective Agreement for Church Schools which will be effective from 2018 until 2022. The signing of this agreement was presided over by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, today, at the Archbishop’s Curia in Floriana.

The Collective Agreement will affect all educators working at the Secretariat for Catholic Education and in Church schools in Malta and Gozo…
