The Feast of the Shipwreck of St Paul, only 10 days before the start of Holy Lent, should inspire us as Christians to prepare ourselves for this time of renewal. The faith which was revealed to Saint Paul in his conversion changed his life radically because he became a witness of the resurrection of Jesus. During his homily on the feast of the conversion of St Paul, Archishop Charles J. Scicluna stated that like Paul “we are called to be witnesses of Jesus, and we should not be afraid to show that we are Christians in the way we live, the way we speak, through our behaviour, and in the decisions we take”. St Paul calls us to be authentic witnesses, and this challenges us to show love and to be merciful towards others, particularly during Lent.
