“We are subject to numerous temptations. Each of us knows the difficulties we have to face. Lent is the ideal time to unmask these and other temptations, to allow our hearts to beat once more in tune with the vibrant heart of Jesus.” At the beginning of his homily of Ash Wednesday, Pope Francis invites Christians to think and live these words: pause, see, and return.
Pause a while and take a step back from the noise and routine of life, from the need to be seen by everyone, from the urgent pull to control everything, from situations that can lead you into temptation; that might prevent you from spending precious time with your family, friends, children, grandparents, with yourself and with God.
See the many faces of the people around you; faces alight with hope and the goodness of the Lord that works among us. Seek the signs that keeps the flame of faith and hope alive.
Return without fear in the embrace of the Father, whose mercy is boundless. This is the time to let him touch your heart.
