The Maltese Catholic Action recorded three podcasts as part of the Mumenti project, an intergenerational project funded by the Arts Council Malta. Each podcast features a young person from ŻAK leading the conversation and interviewing the three guests, who are of different ages and have diverse experiences within the Maltese Catholic Action and the Church.
The Mumenti project aimed to bring together current and former members of Maltese Catholic Action from different branches for interaction, learning, and discussion, along with creative and cultural experiences. Over the past year, intergenerational workshops and cultural outings were held across Malta, resulting in three recorded Mumenti podcasts. This project allowed the Maltese Catholic Action to share these moments with the wider public.
Each podcast, lasting about an hour, covers topics like career challenges, friendships formed through Catholic Action locally and internationally, the organisation’s contributions to the Church, and the personal impact on society and the Church. The conversations also feature guests’ stories of adventures and humorous moments.
In preparation for these three podcasts, a small number of ŻAK members participated in two training sessions led by Mark Laurence Zammit. During these sessions, they explored what makes good and ethical media, while also formulating the questions that were later asked during the podcasts.
Guests who participated in these discussions include former Presidents of Catholic Action: Dr. Lawrence Gonzi, Ninette Borg Grech, and Josef Debono; long-time active members like Stanley Spiteri and Perit Janice Borg; former Catholic Action member and popular author Trevor Żahra; the Episcopal Delegate for Evangelisation, Dr. Nadia Delicata and a few youth members from ŻAK.
