PRAYER AND SOLIDARITY
As bishops of Malta and Gozo, we wish to unite ourselves with many people, families, religious and civil leaders all around the world and in our country in order to publicly express our preoccupation with respect to the gravity of the current situation in some Arab states.
We understand that according to the dictates of reason and in line with the social teachings of the Church, there can be no peace and progress without justice.
For this reason, we urge all Maltese Christians in order to offer prayers to God, Father of all, that He may enlighten all those who are responsible so that all violence and injustices may cease in order that true peace may reign.
We recommend that until the situation improves:
- during all Mass, a prayer is said for this intention
- any Eucharistic Adoration which takes place this week should be dedicated for this intention
- as people of God, as we have always done, we should be ready to offer our solidarity, in a concrete way to our brothers and sisters who are in need.
