The Archbishop prays for peace and the victims on both sides of war

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ilbieraħ smajna d-djalogu bejn Ġesù u d-dixxipli tiegħu meta jurihom l-għana, li hi tajba fiha nnifisha, li jista’ jkollha l-periklu kbir li taqtgħek mill-proxxmu u minn Alla. Hu jispjegalhom ukoll li l-istedina tiegħu li jħallu kollox mhijiex stedina faċli.

Pietru jfakkru f’din il-ħaġa fuq ix-xatt tal-Baħar tal-Galilija. Pietru (li kien jismu Xmun is-sajjied) sema’ lil Ġesù jgħidlu: “Ejja warajja”… Read more »

Let God fill our hearts – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“Qarras wiċċu u telaq b’qalbu sewda”. Dan hu li naqraw fl-Evanġelju llum, skont San Mark, fuq ir-raġel li mar jgħaġġel biex ikellem lil Ġesù, inxteħet għarkopptejh, u qallu: “x’għandi nagħmel biex nikseb il-ħajja ta’ dejjem?” Dar-raġel kien qed ifittex dak li tassew jista’ jimlielu qalbu. Ġesù lilu jagħmillu stedina. Meta r-raġel iwieġbu li l-kmandamenti segwihom, Ġesù jgħidlu: “mur, bigħ li għandek, agħtih lill-fqar, u jkollok teżor fis-sema; imbagħad ejja u imxi warajja”… Read more »

The Pope at Angelus on the wars in all the world: Put down your weapons!

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

In the Gospel of today’s Liturgy, Jesus invites us to reflect on the way we look and the way we speak. Our gaze and our speech.

First of all, our gaze. The risk we run, the Lord says, is that we concentrate on looking at the mote in our brother’s eye without noticing the beam in our own (cf. Lk 6: 41)… Read more »

Conviction not convenience – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The protection of human life from the moment of conception and at every stage of its existence is a question of conviction, not convenience.

It should be a principle we embrace always, not because it is convenient at a particular time. Thus, when we are asked if we accept that life can be eliminated when it has just been conceived, our reply cannot be “no, because the people are not yet ready for this step” or “it is not the right moment, especially when we are close to an election”… Read more »

Welcoming the herald of mercy

Pastoral Letter for Lent 2022

The Pastoral Letter by the Bishops

“After we had reached safety, we then learned that the island was called Malta. The natives showed us unusual kindness. Since it had begun to rain and was cold, they kindled a fire and welcomed all of us around it” (Acts 28:1-2).

Every time we read these verses from Chapter 28 of the Acts of the Apostles and hear the name of Malta, our hearts become aflame and a shiver of emotion runs down our spine… Read more »

Marriage is a vocation – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

“Dak li għaqqad Alla ma għandux jifirdu l-bniedem.” Dan hu li qal Ġesù lill-Fariżej meta staqsewh jistax raġel jitlaq lil martu. Din kienet diskussjoni li kienu jagħmlu bejniethom: għal liema raġuni raġel jista’ jitlaq lil martu. U ġew jistaqsu lil Ġesù. Hawnhekk it-tweġiba ta’ Ġesù hi tweġiba mdawla mill-Kelma ta’ Alla, u jmur lura proprju fl-ewwel ktieb, il-Ġenesi, fejn għandna b’mod ċar dak li Alla ried mill-ħajja ta’ bejn il-mara u r-raġel – il-ħajja taż-żwieġ… Read more »
