The role of Mgr Fr Alfred Vella, as director of ‘Malta Emigrants’ Commission’, is to coordinate all pastoral care with all people on the move and itinerant persons.
The role of the Director of Caritas services is to oversee Caritas’ various social operations including residential services, community services for drug rehabilitation, the protection of the socially vulnerable including old people (HelpAge), research and development, and other support and professional help to several families and individuals which find themselves in difficulty.
The role of the director for Children’s Homes is to coordinate the operation in Children’s Institutes and to ensure the residents’ holistic development.
Church Homes for the Elderly

The Church in Malta considers care for the elderly as one of its main pastoral duties. This it achieves by means of the Homes for the Elderly managed by Congregations, Groups and the Central Administration. Within these Homes, the Church in Malta cares for approximately 720 elderly persons.
Homes for Persons with Disabilities

The role of the director of Homes for Persons with Disabilities is to coordinate the operation of id-Dar tal-Providenza and other homes which offer the possibility for people with special needs to live in communities which enable them to integrate within society.
