A Church closer to youth

It is a well-known fact that Pope Francis wants to be closer to people and understand their needs. In preparation for the Synod on Youth to be held this October, the Pope wants bishops to understand and live the needs, desires, challenges and fears of young people in today’s world. Parish priests within the Archdiocese of Malta, together with the Archbishop, chose to dedicate their annual live-in to listen more about this important reality to the Church.

However not only bishops and parish priests have something to reflect on. Referring to a famous phrase by former US President John F. Kennedy, the Pope is inviting young people to think about this question: Ask not what the Church can do for you, ask what you can do for the Church?

This year Pope Francis wants young people to be the protagonists of the Church, because “every young person has something to say to others. He or she has something to say to adults, something to say to priests, sisters, bishops and even the pope.” The Church needs you!
