The Collections Management Unit at the Archdiocese of Malta is dedicated to establishing a standardised and uniform approach to the management of sacred art and artifacts. This includes maintaining structured and comprehensive inventories of liturgical objects in the parishes and churches of the Archdiocese.
These inventories are essential for responsible stewardship of the collections, aligning with the Archdiocese’s duty to safeguard and care for its ecclesiastical patrimony, as well as complying with the state’s cultural heritage laws. Additionally, the unit plays a significant role in public engagement, particularly in the establishment and maintenance of Parish Museums. This involves assisting with exhibitions, narrative development, collection displays, and volunteer support.
