Ċelebrant: Fr Brendan Gatt

♫ Bless the Lord O my soul ♫

O my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name

The sun comes up
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes

You’re rich in love
And You’re slow to anger
Your name is great
And Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness
I will keep on singing

Ten thousand reasons
For my heart to find

And on that day
When my strength is failing
The end draws near
And my time has come
Still my soul will
Sing Your praise unending

Ten thousand years
And then forevermore

True friendship is based on love – The Archbishop

Mass on the feast of St Matthias for the repose of the soul of those who have died in recent days especially the patients of Hospice Malta

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Wieħed jifhem għaliex il-Knisja fil-festa tal-lum, il-festa ta’ San Mattija tagħżel din is-silta sabiħa ħafna mill-kapitlu 15 tal-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann anke għaliex fil-versett tal-hallelujah, qabel propju din is-silta, il-Knisja tirrepeti vers li japplika ħafna għall-każ u l-missjoni ta’ Mattija. “Jiena għażiltkom u ħtartkom” (Ġw 15:16). Ġesù anzi jinsisti li mhux aħna għażilna lilu imma hu għażel lilna.

U meta d-dixxipli, anzi l-appostli għandhom bżonn jagħżlu ’l xi ħadd minflok Ġuda l-Iskarjota, it-traditur, biex il-Kulleġġ tal-Appostli jibqa’ bin-numru 12 li kien l-ewwel nett in-numru li għażel Ġesù u fl-istess ħin kien ukoll is-sinjal tal-poplu ta’ Alla mġedded u ġdid, iqiegħdu quddiem il-providenza, quddiem ir-rieda ta’ Alla l-għażla bejn żewġ persuni li kienu t-tnejn adatti… Read more »

Time for the EU to take a stand for the rights of the elderly

Up to half of the people who died of Covid-19 in Europe are elderly people and many of them were residents of long-term care facilities. “It is time to stop the ‘culture of waste’ and focus on more public policies supporting families”, states the General Secretary of COMECE on Wednesday 13 May 2020.

Like branches united to the vine – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass offered for all farmers and those finding it difficult to provide food for their families

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

Ix-xbieha tad-dielja u l-friegħi hi xbieha sabiħa li tfisser b’mod ċar ħafna r-rabta qawwija li hemm bejn Ġesù u d-dixxipli tiegħu. Id-dielja tagħti l-ħajja lill-friegħi, u l-friegħi ma jistgħux jgħixu mingħajr il-ħajja li tiġi mid-dielja. Għalhekk, hi xbieha li turi li hemm aktar minn sempliċiment grupp ta’ nies li jimxu wara Ġesù. Hemm rabta intima ta’ mħabba u ħajja.

Erba’ darbiet Ġesù jsemmi hawnhekk, u iktar tul dan il-kapitlu fl-Evanġelju, li l-iskop tal-bidwi hu li jara l-frott… Read more »

Pope Francis in General Audience: ‘Prayers belong to people of all religions, and probably even to those who do not profess to any’

  The Vatican

At the Wednesday General Audience, Pope Francis considered several of the core aspects of prayer.

He said prayer is common to all people, no matter what their religion, and “probably even to those who profess no religion.”

The Pope recently demonstrated the universality of prayer. He has invited people of all religions to take part in a day of prayer on Thursday, 14 May, to implore God for an end to the coronavirus pandemic… Read more »
