“We cannot work for justice and expect not to face trials and tribulations, but this should not discourage us!” – The Archbishop

The Archbishop celebrates Mass marking six months from the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia

  • L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna
  • Il-Knisja ta’ San Franġisk ta’ Assisi, il-Belt Valletta 16 ta’ April 2018

L-Evanġelju li għadna kemm smajna jibda b’riferiment ta’ xi ħaġa li għamel Ġesù u li fiha sinifikat profond: Ġesù mexa fuq il-baħar. Il-baħar fl-Iskrittura huwa ħafna drabi element negattiv u ta’ periklu. Il-mixja ta’ Ġesù fuq il-baħar hija din il-kapaċità li tegħleb dak kollu li huwa negattiv u kaotiku; hija din il-qawwa li ġġib ordni u paċi…

The Gospel of the day: 17th April

  • Tuesday of the Third Week of Easter

    Saint John 6:30-35

The crowd said to Jesus: “What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

So Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”

A service for the Maltese people and human dignity – The Archbishop

Messaġġ mill-Arċisqof

Hija xi ħaġa sabiħa ħafna li l‑Arċidjoċesi ta’ Malta qiegħda toffri din il‑proprjetà lill‑Hospice. Bdiet b’inizjattiva ta’ mara lajka (Adelaide Cini) li kienet profeta ta’ servizz soċjali li kien neċessarju fi żmienha, u issa qed tiġi afdata lil lajċi esperti biex nirrispondu għal sitwazzjoni attwali.

Servizz għall‑poplu Malti u servizz għad‑dinjità tal‑bniedem. Il‑Hospice għandhom bżonn mhux biss l‑appoġġ imma l‑ammirazzjoni tagħna wkoll għal dak kollu li jagħmlu bis‑servizzi li joffru fil‑komunità u issa wkoll bl‑offerta ta’ servizz u esperjenza residenzjali li mhux biss fid‑djar, imma anke f’dan l‑ambjent, li nawguraw li jkun ambjent sabiħ… Read more »

Archbishop celebrates Pontifical Mass on the feast of St Publius

  • L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna
  • Knisja Parrokkjali, il-Furjana
    15 ta’ April 2018

Il-kelma ‘hieni’ u ‘mbierek’ li Ġesù jtenni fl-Evanġelju li għadna kemm smajna, din il-kelma ‘ħieni’ issir sinonimu ta’ qaddis għax dik il-persuna fidila lejn Alla u li tgħix il-Kelma tiegħu, tilħaq fl-għotja tagħha nfisha l-veru ferħ.

Aħna l-Maltin meta nirreferu għall-Prinċep, għall-Protos tal-gżira li laqa’ lill-Appostlu Missierna, nirreferu għalih bħala San Publiju…

A reality check

An article by the Vicar General, Fr Joe Galea Curmi, published on The Sunday Times of Malta

  • The Church in Malta, through Discern (the Institute of the Church for research),  commissioned a research by means of a census that took place during the first weekend of December 2017,  as well as a survey that was carried out in the following days.
