The first edition of the Maltese Catholic Film Contest

  • True Light Catholic Media Foundation is holding a ‘Maltese Catholic Film Contest’ for Maltese and Gozitan youths between the ages of 14-24.

    Contestants are challenged to create a Catholic inspired film which will be voted on by a team of judges judges (amongst whom are Fr Brendan Gatt & Matthew Sammut of ICE) and the general public through social media.

    This project is encouraging young Catholics to get actively involved in creating media which allows them to share their Catholic faith with their peers and at the same time to learn more about the Catholic faith and how to communicate it…

Pope to attend World Youth Day 2019 in Panama

  • The Director of the Holy See Press Office, Greg Burke, confirmed on Monday that Pope Francis will participate in the upcoming World Youth Day 2019 in Panama.

    The Holy Father will arrive at the event a day after it begins and take part from the 23rd to the 27th of January.

    A brief statement said the Pope had accepted an invitation from the government of Panama and from the country’s Catholic bishops…

The Gospel of the day: 10th July

  • Saint Matthew 9:32-38 

    A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus, and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” 

    But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.” Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. 

    Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the labourers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out labourers for his harvest.”

Two teenagers on path to canonisation

  • Pope Francis has issued decrees advancing the Causes of four candidates, including two teenagers who heroically lived the Christian virtues.

    At a meeting with Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for Saints’ Causes, the Pope signed a decree recognising the heroic virtues of Alexia González-Barros, who offered her sufferings from a malignant tumour for the Church.

    González was born in Madrid in 1971…
